In 2002, the UK Government launched a further stage in the deregulation of the UK telecommunications industry by introducing a new phone service called Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS). The deregulation meant that providers such as Telemaxx could supply the same services as BT without the loss of service or having to change phone numbers. The only difference is the price you pay for the services.

There is no longer a need for telephone switchboard programming, or diallers or access codes to be used.
